Summary
- Sign up for the Iron Lake Challenge you want!
- You can find the challenge goal on the respective challenge page. Click here for all challenges or micro-challenges.
- Bicycles, skates and other means of transportation are not permitted. However, you are welcome to walk or run.
- Each lake must be circumnavigated “in one go”. This means that you are welcome to take breaks, but you should complete the lake in one day, unless there is a special regulation for certain lakes. There are lakes that are too big for a one-day tour, for these you can take several days. You can of course divide the circumnavigation of the 10 lakes into different days. Only do one lake per day, because you want to enjoy this time! There is no time limit for this challenge, which means that you are welcome to take several years.
- We trust that you have really circumnavigated the lakes. However, if you want to be included in the time classification, we need a copy of your tracking. We don’t care what you use (watch, smartphone or app). You can load this into our challenge tool.
What does time say?
You have as much time as you need to complete your chosen Iron Lake Challenge. The date of your registration counts as the start. It doesn’t matter how long you need to circumnavigate each lake, but you should do it “in one go”, i.e. in one day per lake. An exception is of course the large lakes which can only be circumnavigated in multi-day tours. We will be happy to include you in the ranking table, but this is optional. It’s more about the compass than the clock 😉
So you have unlimited time to complete the Iron Lake Challenge. You should enjoy and not rush!
What does circumnavigation mean?
A lake must be circumnavigated once on foot. You should therefore end at the exact point where you started. You may not use any aids such as a bicycle. Shortcuts by boat are of course also not allowed (unless this is explicitly permitted) and protected areas may not be entered. However, this should be clear. If you are going around a lake for which you may take several days, then after the break please start exactly at the point where you left off before.
Registration
You can register on our website and then take part in the selected Iron Lake Challenge. Only if you have registered in advance will the lakes you have run around count as completed and only if you are registered will you receive your well-deserved medal, the Timeless marble and the Life Score points.
